Forever? No, because around the turn of the millennium, the founder's descendants decided to rebuild the distillery. The production buildings were completed at the end of 2002, and one after another, the \"mashtun,\" \"stills,\" \"mill,\" and other equipment necessary for whisky production arrived. On March 25, 2004, the Glengyle distillery was officially opened by Winifred Ewing and Hedley Wright. The Mitchells, proud of the long tradition of whisky distilling in the Campbeltown region, chose the name \"Kilkerran\" for their single malt. The name is derived from the Gaelic \"Ceann Loch Cille Chiarain\" and refers to an early Christian settlement of Saint Kerran, on the ground of today's town of Campbeltown. 5 years after the opening, we offered you a taste of this newborn whisky with the first official bottling \"Work in Progress.\" Now that this is sold out, we can offer you further single malts. These are lightly peated, double distilled golden yellow single malts. Strong, sweet fruit on the nose, with slightly peppery aromas. Further fruity sweetness on the palate. In the true sense of the word \"work in progress,\" a whisky that continues to develop, full of zest for life and aromas.
