2,000 Bottles (total)With the Lochlea 5 y.o., the “farm distillery” presents its oldest bottling to date and its first with an age statement. The single malt combines five bourbon and sherry casks hand-picked by John Campbell. Two of them are from 2018 and are among the first casks Lochlea ever filled.
The five-year-old was bottled at 50% vol. without added colour or chill-filtration. And you can taste it: After an opening of brown sugar and baked pineapple, opulent, cake-like notes on the palate give way to citrus peel and crumble with candied pear. Zesty orange peel slowly transitions into rich caramel on the finish, accompanied by a hint of black pepper, rose petals, and leather.
