The Mac-Talla "Mara" ("Sea") reflects the maritime nature of the island and was strongly influenced by the
atmosphere of Atlantic salt surrounding Islay. Salt and iodine combine with the
peat-saturated air. Matured in ex-Bourbon casks and bottled at cask strength 58.2% vol.
Tasting Notes:
The nose presents powerful peat and the scent of bonfire embers mixed with salty, maritime notes. Accompanied by
distinct citrus notes and freshly ground black pepper.
On the palate, a flood of peat and salty smoke meets a malty sweetness. The alcohol is
excellently integrated.
The finish is incredibly long with a strong peat note, salt, malt sugar, and spicy oak.
