Nc’nean Organic Single Malt Scotch Whisky Now Available

Nc'nean is proof that dreams can come true. In this case, the dreamer is Annabel Thomas, and her dream was a modern, sustainable whisky distillery in Scotland. In 2013, she began to realize it, quit her job in the capital, raised around £7.5 million, and built the Nc’nean distillery from scratch. Distillation has been running directly on the coast of the Morvern peninsula since 2017. As of today, Batch 01 of the Organic Single Malt Scotch Whisky is also available on the German market.

The whisky is made from organically grown Scottish barley in a distillery that is 100 percent powered by renewable energy. Nc’nean whisky is bottled in the UK's first 100% recycled clear glass bottle. “Made by nature, not by rules” is accordingly the motto of one of the few women-led whisky distilleries in the world, which, with this uncompromising focus on sustainability, makes itself a pioneer in the spirits industry.

Nc’nean Organic Single Malt not only meets the increased interest in sustainable production. With its aromas of citrus fruits, peach, apricot, and spices, the soft, uncomplicated whisky appeals to experienced connoisseurs and whisky explorers alike. Responsible for this: gentle fermentation and slow distillation, which further emphasize the delicate, fruity aromas of the Scotch. The whisky gets its characteristic body and sweetness from three years of maturation in selected ex-Bourbon casks and STR ex-wine casks, which were previously scraped, toasted, and recharred (STR = "scraped" or "shaved", "toasted", "recharred").

The single malt, organically certified by the Biodynamic Association, is released in batch sizes of around 5,000 bottles each and is neither chill-filtered nor colored.
