WhistlePig 12 Year Old Rye combines American rye whiskey and old-world wine barrels. An experiment that gives this distinctive rye whiskey its complexity. Born from the idea that the whole is always greater than the sum of its parts, a trio of different casks – Port, Sauternes, and Madeira – is used for the finish, enriching the rye with their characteristic aromas. Similar to the parts of a symphony, each of these distinctive characters comes together in a blend.
Assemblage and Origin:
After more than a decade of aging in Vermont oak, the spirit is matured in various European wine casks: Port wine casks (7%), Sauternes casks (30%), and Madeira casks (63%). A refinement expertly balanced by WhistlePig's Master Blender.
