\r\nSince 2002, single malt has also been coming from the Harz. The team at the Hammerschiede distillery creates various series of sophisticated whiskies made in Germany in 100% manual labor. The Harz master distillers stand for high craftsmanship – and a willingness to experiment. Together with an impressive selection of oak casks of various sizes, previously used for fortified and dessert wines, this results in an exciting variety of whiskies.
In the Willowburn Range, fans of spicy and aromatic single malts will find what they are looking for. The barley malt for these whiskies is 25 to 50 percent peat or wood smoked, and the distillates are aged in hand-selected fortified and liqueur wine casks.
The Limited Exclusive Edition of the Hercynian Single Malt matured in First Fill Bourbon Barrels from the Heaven Hill whiskey distillery in Kentucky, USA. After five years of aging, the Harz distillers bottled 540 bottles of their special edition in a rich amber color.
Information about the Hercynian Distilling Co. distillery:
Open-mindedness, a spirit of discovery and a willingness to experiment characterize passionate travelers and are also characteristics of the Harzer Hammerschmiede. Since 2002, numerous varied bottlings of the handmade Hercynian Single Malt have been released under the brand name The Glen Els, known as ElsBurn since 2019. Each of them is a milestone in taste on the journey of the traditionally operating Lower Saxon distillery and a guide to its extraordinary variety of whiskies. This is based not only on various aging times, but also on the large selection of hand-selected oak casks of various sizes, which were previously used for a wide range of fortified and dessert wines.
