From a growing area protected from late April frosts, the 2017 Château Larcis Ducasse proved to be one of the greatest favorites of this vintage of contrasts. The 2017 Château Larcis Ducasse, made from a blend of Merlot (92%) and Cabernet Franc (8%), is a real success for Nicholas Thienpont.
Taste:
Aromas of blackberry and black cherry with a liqueur-like flavor, a sweet spicy scent, and a delicate floral note reminiscent of rose petals and violets, reveal a magnificent bouquet to the olfactory senses. Château Larcis Ducasse 2017 reveals itself on the palate with its roundness and depth. The fine, enrobed tannins give the wine a powerful structure, while the mid-palate focuses on the density of the fruit.
Production:
The grapes were harvested by hand, as was the destemming. After manual harvesting, the grapes are selected. Fermentation and maceration took place classically at controlled temperatures over 15 - 20 days in stainless steel tanks. After malolactic fermentation, the best wines were selected for the blending of Château Larcis Ducasse 2017 Grand Cru and aged for 16 - 18 months in oak barrels. The aging contributes to the development of the wine, gently enriching it with oxygen and refining it.
