A 15-year-old Scotch Single Malt Whisky from a Secret Speyside Distillery. Number 4 of 5 bottlings from the Deerhound Collection by Lana Mathieson.
Nose:
An enticing melange of classic sherry aromas such as raisins, dates and figs, the spice of tobacco leaves, a vanilla sweetness, vinous notes, cloves, honey, and grandma's old oak cabinet with a hint of furniture polish
Palate:
soft and oily-velvety start with plenty of spice, raisins & sweet sherry notes, followed by a subtle nuttiness, which then transitions into aromas of orange zest, Mon Chéri, and a lot of dark chocolate
Finish:
quite long, with lots of spice and lingering notes of sherry & tobacco; ending with cocoa powder and dry oak spice
CONCLUSION: A classic full-term sherry cask maturation, as it should be!
