The Elements of Islay Sherry Cask. In First Fill and Refill Sherry Butts as well as Hogsheads, Islay Single Malt from the south coast with aromas of dried fruits and dark chocolate marries with Islay Single Malt from the north coast with spicy-maritime notes and lemon oil.
Nose: The scent of tobacco in an empty sandalwood cigar box. This is joined by the maritime-smoky aroma of smoked fish (Arbroath smokie), aromatic notes of lemon oil, ginger root and a hint of menthol.
Palate: Opulent, smoky and smooth. Candied orange slices dipped in dark chocolate and pieces of candied ginger. Muscovado sugar syrup provides a sticky, dark drizzle over ginger cake with dates against a backdrop of sweet peat smoke and dried autumn fruits.
Finish: Syrupy toffee and smoky black tea, sweetened with dark brown sugar. Long, sweet, full and smoky-spicy finish.
