PX Sherry / Bourbon Cask, distilled 2013, bottled 2020, 7 years, 50% vol.
This year's Wolfburn "Vibrant Stills" for Germany is limited to 1,100 bottles - a vatting of a fresh ex-Bourbon barrel and a PX Sherry Butt. Both casks originated from the first distillation year 2013 and matured for 7 years before being married and bottled at 50% alcohol by volume.
Thus, this opulent and already very mature Wolfburn offers both Bourbon and Sherry cask aromas - "the best of both worlds".
The Tasting Notes:
Nose: Sweet and nutty, milk chocolate, almond, followed by fruit aromas such as blood orange, sultana, rum ball and delicate spices.
Taste: PX Sherry, opulent, fruity and spicy. Cocoa, fruit compote, red plums with ginger, date and salted caramel.
Finish: Creamy chocolate and spices.
A novelty here also in the packaging - the first Wolfburn in a tube.
