Driven by the dynamism and passion of Alexandre de Malet Roquefort, supported by the energy of a team advised by the renowned oenologist Stéphane Derenoncourt, this premier grand cru classé B wine has gained in precision while retaining its harmony and elegance, making it a true nectar.
Taste:
The La Gaffeliere 2016 presents itself with a medium to deep garnet-red color. The nose is initially a bit closed, but slowly unfolds to reveal aromas of cherry juice, black raspberries, and warm plums, along with hints of rosehip tea and undergrowth. The palate is medium-bodied with fantastic elegance and refinement, offering a wealth of bright, aromatic fruits and exquisitely ripe tannins, finishing with great freshness and energy.
Production:
The grapes were harvested by hand, as was the destemming. After manual harvesting, the grapes are sorted three times. Fermentation and maceration took place traditionally at controlled temperatures over 28 days in stainless steel tanks. After malolactic fermentation, the best wines were selected for the blending of Châteaux La Gaffelière 2016 Grand Cru and aged for 16 - 18 months in oak barrels. The aging contributes to the development of the wine, gently enriching it with oxygen and refining it.
