After the atypical 2003 vintage, the weather in 2004 was typical for the Bordeaux climate with near-average temperatures and rainfall. The 2004 Cheval Blanc is a classic wine that embodies the successful alliance of Cabernet Franc and Merlot, which is valued at Cheval Blanc for its freshness, its aromatic precision and the finesse of its tannic grains. The beautiful intensity of the robe recalls crushed blackcurrants with its dark and deep color. The nose opens with aeration, showing notes of black fruits and blueberries, framed by well-integrated oak. The wine begins smoothly and roundly on the palate with rich, dense tannins. The wine is powerful and noble, offering great aromatic freshness that develops into a fruity and floral bouquet. The beautiful long finish has a hint of cashew. This excellent wine is the successful union between the two main grape varieties of the winery and the spirit of Cheval Blanc. The 2004 vintage is representative of a vintage with normal weather conditions in Saint Emilion, characterized by a fine structure and a beautiful balance that allows it to age for several decades.
Maturation:
The 2004 Cheval Blanc SAINT EMILION GRAND CRU was matured with 6% press wine in 100% new oak barrels. 10.2% of the wine was drained from fermentation tanks due to the size of the grapes.
The vintage contains 49% Cabernet Franc, 51% Merlot, 0% Cabernet Sauvignon
