Ingredients from the Himalayas, stored at an altitude of 900 meters, inspired by gods and demons – Amrut is Indian whisky through and through. For their globally successful single malts, the ambitious distillers use small-grained and therefore sweeter Indian barley from the foothills of the Himalayas, spring water from the mountains, and Scottish peat malt for smoky variants. Among the latter is a new exclusive bottling for the German market.
Amrut 2015/2021 is a limited high-end pleasure that offers an exciting perspective on India's single malt pioneer. Distilled according to the Scottish model, the Indian Single Malt Whisky matured in a highly aromatic cask: Cask #4711 was previously filled with the Portuguese fortified wine Madeira. High above sea level in Bangalore, the peated distillate was able to intensely (about 3.5 times faster than in Scotland) interact with the fruit-soaked wood under tropical conditions. The complex result was bottled at 60% vol. in only 200 of the noble bottles.
