Ninkasi Craft Single Malt Whisky from France

Ninkasi is the Sumerian name for the goddess of beer. There couldn't have been a more fitting name for the French craft beer brewery from the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region around Lyon. In 2015, the manufactory transferred its accumulated knowledge of barley malt to the Ninkasi Whisky Experience – single malts that are usually produced in small batch series (called "Tracks") and mature in (wine) casks from the fertile region.

Thus, Cognac and subsequently white wine casks (wineries Feuillat Juyot and Burrier Château de Beauregard) formed the resting zone for Ninkasi Whisky Experience Track 4. After three to three and a half years, the French distillers and brewers bottled a mellow, warming single malt that entices with notes of caramel, grape must, and aromas of lily of the valley and linden blossoms.

Ninkasi Whisky Experience Pinot Noir Finish was first aged for three and a half years in former white wine casks (winery Burrier Château de Beauregard) and then received a finish in white oak casks previously used for Pinot Noir. The result: a round single malt with notes of caramel, cooked grape must, and pecans. Both craft whiskies are based on Pilsner brewing malt.
