Briem Roséli Alkoholfrei 2024 – maximum fruit, no compromises

The Briem Roséli Alkoholfrei 2024 is the Ihringen estate's innovative answer to the growing wish for mindful enjoyment without giving up sensory depth. While many alcohol-free alternatives seem one-dimensional, this Roséli uses a state-of-the-art process to preserve the characteristic freshness and aromatic backbone of the Kaiserstuhl terroir. With a residual alcohol content of less than 0.5% vol. it is the ideal companion for any time of day. Anyone looking to buy an alcohol-free alternative to wine that impresses with authentic berry fruit and fine minerality will find a masterpiece of Baden innovation in this 2024 vintage.

The philosophy: preserving the soul through vacuum distillation

The challenge with alcohol-free wines lies in preserving the volatile aromas that are normally bound to the alcohol. For the Roséli, Weingut Briem uses a particularly gentle process of vacuum extraction. The alcohol is removed from the fully matured wine at very low temperatures (approx. 30 °C), minimising heat stress. In accordance with EU Regulation 1169/2011 (FIC) this product offers full transparency about nutritional values and ingredients. It is a drink that translates the summery lightness of the Kaiserstuhl into a modern, alcohol-free form.

Sensory analysis

Tasting the Briem Roséli Alkoholfrei 2024 reveals a profile that convinces with its liveliness and clearly defined fruit.

  • Colour: In the glass the drink shows a brilliant, bright salmon pink with silver highlights, visually indistinguishable from an alcoholic rosé.

  • Aromas (nose): Layers of fresh primary aromas dominate the nose:

    • Fruit: Intense notes of wild strawberries, redcurrants and a hint of zesty pink grapefruit.

    • Floral accents: Subtle nuances of dog-rose blossom and fresh garden herbs.

  • Mouthfeel: On the palate the Roséli is surprisingly structured. As alcohol is missing as a flavour carrier, the texture is supported here by a fine natural residual sweetness and lively acidity.

  • Acidity & balance: The acidity is very well integrated and provides a refreshing backbone that makes it easy to drink and perfectly balances the fruit sweetness.

  • Finish: The finish is clean and fruit-driven and ends on a delicate, mineral freshness.

Origin & production

This alcohol-free drink is based on carefully selected wines from the Kaiserstuhl, vinified specifically for dealcoholisation.

Terroir and base wine

The grapes grow on the typical weathered volcanic soils covered with loess in Ihringen. For the Roséli Alkoholfrei, wines with particularly pronounced primary fruit are chosen, as they come through dealcoholisation best. Baden's intense sunshine provides the aromatic ripeness that serves as a stable foundation in the alcohol-free end product.

The dealcoholisation process

The vacuum process lowers the boiling point of the alcohol dramatically, which protects the delicate fruit esters. After the alcohol has been removed, the drink is refined with a small amount of unfermented grape juice to round out the body and improve the mouthfeel.

Food pairing & serving

The Briem Roséli Alkoholfrei 2024 is a versatile partner for relaxed, modern cooking.

  • Suggested dishes: An excellent aperitif, but also a superb match for light summer salads, vegetarian sushi or fresh fruit desserts. Its light sweetness also makes it a brilliant counterpart to spicy Asian dishes.

  • Vegetarian alternative: Melon with (vegetarian) ham, or burrata with tomatoes and basil.

  • Serving temperature: Best served ice-cold at 6–8 °C.

  • Glassware: We recommend a classic white-wine glass, to guide the fresh aromas to the nose.
