- Bordeaux, Pauillac, France
The red wine from Château Haut-Batailley is a Pauillac, made from Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon from the 2018 vintage. Under the direction of François-Xavier Borie, also owner of Chateau Grand-Puy Lacoste, this estate produces excellent wines from 40-year-old vines, in which Cabernet Sauvignon dominates.
Taste:
The 2018 Château Haut-Batailley has a very deep crimson color. The nose is subtle and refined with profound notes of dark chocolate, crème de cassis, blueberry pie, anise, lavender and Indian spices.
Production:
Château Haut-Batailley 2018 was produced with the greatest respect for the fruit and the terroir. For vinification, the grapes are hand-picked and carefully sorted. Fermentation takes place over 21-28 days in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. The wine undergoes malolactic fermentation in barrel and ages for 14-16 months in small French oak barrels before bottling.
Serving suggestion:
Ideal with grilled meat, game, lamb, poultry and spicy cheese.
