This southern Italian specialty was produced using the elaborate Appassimento method: Dried grapes of the best quality are fermented together with the mash, which makes the wine particularly full-bodied, concentrated and intensely colored.
This is the popular Appassimento style in its purest form! The dense, deep dark red 'Gran Passitivo' has aromas of very ripe, partly dried dark fruits, partly dried herbs, spices and dark chocolate. On the palate, it is powerful and full-bodied with a delicately sweet berry, plum and cherry fruit, herbal, spicy and tobacco notes, supple tannins and a rich finish. Ideal with dark meat with refined sauces that contain herbs, coffee or cocoa (with game!), as well as with cheese or for (or instead of) dessert.
