2022 Villa Antinori Chianti Classico Riserva Sangiovese Toscana Italy Dry Red Wine

With the inauguration of the new Chianti Classico cellars, Antinori wished to revive a historic label. The result is this unique Chianti Classico, showing wonderful notes of red fruits, oak, and spices. The flagship of the Antinori family –
Tuscany pure!

The 2022 Villa Antinori Chianti Classico Riserva is the result of the Antinori family's centuries of experience in winemaking, capable of blending several grape varieties in the same bottle and extracting the best characteristics of the delivered sensory heritage from each of them. With the opening of the new Antinori winery in Chianti Classico, the family's desire was to reinterpret a classic Tuscan through a delicate yet powerful and elegant Riserva. With ninety percent, Sangiovese dominates as the classic Chianti grape variety. Other grape varieties complement the cuvée with ten parts.

Aroma and Taste:
Villa Antinori Chianti Classico Riserva 2023 presents itself in a ruby red color. On the nose, it captivates with notes of cherry and cotton candy, alternating with floral notes of violet and red orange juice. The bouquet is rounded off by roasted nuances in combination with delicate aromas of the wood of the gods from the eaglewood tree. On the palate, a velvety start, which then spreads into a tasty and persistent sip, reminiscent of spicy notes of sweet tobacco and dark chocolate.

Winemaking:
After the grapes were harvested between mid-September and the first days of October, the grapes were gently pressed and the must was transferred to steel tanks where fermentation took place. After malolactic fermentation, which took place for Sangiovese in stainless steel tanks and for the other varieties in second and third use barriques, the different lots were assembled and continued their aging phase for 16 - 18 months, predominantly in large barrels and partly in barriques. Bottling took place in August 2022.

Serving suggestion:
A great accompaniment to meat dishes of lamb, game or beef stews, roasted or grilled beef. If the wine is served with cheese, it should be spicy and mature.
