For the estate's 80th birthday, a cuvée was created that embodies exactly what makes Tuscany synonymous with great Italian red wine.

The estate

Barbanera was founded in 1938 at the foot of Monte Cetona. The brothers Marco and Paolo Barbanera took over the business, founded some thirty years earlier by their grandparents, and today run it as a modern, internationally minded company. Gigino 80° Anniversario celebrates this anniversary and is regarded as the "little brother" of Gigino Grande – approachable, but by no means run-of-the-mill.

The wine

A Sangiovese-led blend, complemented by international varieties, aged in stainless steel with a short spell in wood – a modern Super Tuscan style with a clear line.

Tasting note

Dark ruby red. An intense bouquet of ripe cherries, cassis, liquorice and Mediterranean herbs. Soft and juicy on the palate, with elegant spice; harmoniously balanced between fruit and tannin, already ready to drink yet structured.

Serving suggestion

Serve at 14-16°C; no decanting needed.
