A single-varietal Merlot from the Languedoc that deliberately favours approachability over power. For uncomplicated everyday drinking, without losing character.

Tasting note

A soft, supple attack characterises this Merlot. The tannins are gently woven into the fruit without standing out – a style typical of Merlot from warmer southern French sites, where the grape shows its velvety, round side rather than the sterner structure of northern French Merlot cuvées.

At the table

Ideal with spicy vegetable tagines or as an easy-going companion to a selection of tapas – a wine that doesn't push itself forward but complements the food.

The winemaker

The wine is made by Guillaume, one of Oé's partner winemakers, in Carcassonne in the heart of the Languedoc. Like all Oé winemakers, he farms his vines to certified-organic standards and without pesticides.

Sustainability

The wine is part of Oé's returnable-bottle system – one of the first initiatives in France to revive the deposit principle for wine. In addition, through the company's own biodiversity programme, a fixed share of turnover goes directly into soil-regeneration projects with its partner winemakers.
