The 2019 Château Brun from Saint-Émilion Grand Cru comes here as a magnum - ideal for long dinners or your own wine collection. A family-run estate on classic clay-limestone terroir, expressed in a Merlot-led Bordeaux with a share of Cabernet Franc.
Taste
With 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc, expect a juicy, fruit-driven, velvety red with ripe fruit and a fine tannin framework, typical of right-bank wines from Saint-Émilion.
Production
The vines grow on 10 hectares of clay-limestone soil and are on average 40 years old – an age that usually brings more concentration and depth to the wine. The grapes are picked by hand. Ageing is split: 60% in tank, 10% in new barriques and 30% in used barriques (one year old and older) – a method that carefully balances fruit and structure without overloading the wine with toasty aromas.
Pairs with
A classic food wine for red meat, beef, lamb or game and for aged hard cheese – the typical structure of a Merlot-dominated Saint-Émilion goes well with heartier dishes.
