Each Roederer Collection is another chapter in the extensive history of the house and contributes to its universe of taste, always unique and truly Roederer! The year 2017 was a climatically challenging year. Both winter and spring were exceptionally warm and dry, with severe frost also occurring in April. The consequence was an accelerated, very short harvest, combined with a demanding and extremely precise selection process.

Taste:
Intense pearls permeate the Collection with bright, golden-yellow, slightly amber shimmer in the glass. In addition to ripe citrus fruit and acacia blossoms, intense aromas of peach appear on the nose, with typical brioche and hazelnut notes developing with aeration. On the palate, it is fantastically concentrated; the finely salty note emphasizes the freshness. In its entire personality, Collection 242 displays an elegance and finesse that leaves a lasting impression.

Production:
The grapes for Louis Roederer Collection 242 come from carefully selected plots that, due to their special locations, consistently deliver the best grape material year after year and form the basis for the perfect assemblage. Thus, the assemblage of Collection 242 consists of 54% from 42% Chardonnay, 36% Pinot Noir, 22% Meunier grapes from the base vintage 2017, which gives the champagne its special character. In addition, there are 12% reserve wines aged in wooden barrels, and 34% from the Réserve Perpétuelle, Roederer's "eternal reserve." The result is a magnificent, complex, and full-bodied multi-vintage champagne that is unparalleled. The champagne aged on its lees for an average of 4 years. After disgorgement, the wine rests for at least 6 months to complete its maturation.

Serving suggestion:
Enjoy chilled at 8-10°C. The freshness of this Roederer Collection is excellent as an aperitif or as an accompaniment to seafood, poultry, and spicy cheese.
