A very fine vintage from Château Valandraud. The vineyards cover a total of 15 hectares of vines. Nine hectares are planted with the red grape varieties Merlot (66%), Cabernet Franc (33%) and Malbec (1%), but only a portion of these from the best plots are used for the first wine.
Taste:
The 2018 Château Valandraud has a deep purple-black color and slowly evolves from a base of warm black cherries, blackberry compote, and stewed plums with a fragrance of sandalwood, Indian spices, lavender, wilting roses, mocha, and fruitcake, along with a hint of woodsmoke and camphor. The palate is full-bodied, rich, ripe, and extravagant with ample opulent black and blue fruit layers, wonderfully framed by velvety tannins and good freshness, very long and very seductive on the finish.
Production:
The entire harvest was carried out by hand. The hand-picked grapes were carefully sorted. Fermentation took place over 18-22 days in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks using traditional methods. The wine was aged in French oak barrels and matured there for 16-18 months before bottling.

Ideal with grilled meats, game, lamb, poultry, and spicy cheese.
