2022 Châteauneuf-du-Pape Rouge Lieu-Dit Les Cassanets - Domaine Julien Masquin
Color: Dark burgundy red
Nose: Rich bouquet of blackcurrant, balm, and a hint of leather
Palate: Balanced structure with notes of dark fruits and licorice in a beautiful finish
Climate: Mediterranean climate with dry, hot summers and cool, wet winters.
Soil: The vines grow on sandy soil in the Pignan and Cassanets lieux-dits, facing east. Julien follows the biodynamic calendar for managing his plots and promotes biodiversity for a strong ecosystem.
Aging: Hand-harvested, with partially destemmed grapes. Julien likes to work with a combination of fully destemmed and partially destemmed grapes to achieve the right balance. The wine is aged for an average of 12 months in foudres and tanks before bottling.
BLEND AND ORIGIN
Grape varieties: 70% Grenache, 30% Syrah
Terroir: Grenache and Syrah fully express themselves in this sublime sandy terroir of Pignan and Cassanets. Benefiting from a slight eastward slope, we can wait for optimal ripeness.
