2009 was a warm and dry year, without major fluctuations. The excellent ripeness of the grapes gives the wine of this great vintage a lot of smoothness, concentration and opulent richness.
Aroma and taste:
The grapes of this vintage reached excellent ripeness, which is reflected in a dark, deep garnet red color in the wine. On the nose, this modern classic from Saint-Emilion opens up extremely opulent and complex. The aromas, characterized by hints of morello cherries, blackberries and blueberries and by delicate notes of liquorice, vanilla and sage, characterize this great vintage. On the palate, Château Angélus 1er Grand Cru Classé is extremely opulent and full-bodied. The velvety soft, ripe tannin of this Château Angélus cuvée dominates here, which also impresses with its endless finish.
Aging:
The 2009 Château Angélus, Saint-Émilion Grand Cru was aged in 100% new oak barrels.
