The Tenuta Tignanello growing region is located in the heart of Chianti Classico, on the gentle hills between the Greve and Pesa valleys (Tuscany).
Good rainfall in April and May 2012 was significant in coping with the long summer drought that determined plant development from June through August. The eagerly awaited rain in the last days of August was crucial to bring the plants back into balance and allowed all grape varieties to continue their ripening processes regularly. In September and October, both months mild and quite rainy, the berries were able to develop their sugar ripeness, as well as their aromatic ripeness. The harvest was concentrated in the period between September 25th and October 10th and required attentive and precise selections of the grapes in the vineyard and later of the berries at the sorting tables, before they were pressed.

Aroma and Taste:
The Solaia 2012 shows an intense ruby red color with violet reflections. On the nose, varietal notes dominate with excellent freshness and intensity of fruit notes and aromas of mint, pepper, and licorice. The Solaia 2012 is of classic style and shows pleasant taste harmony on the palate, characterized by the right acidity-tannin balance and excellent fruit enjoyment.

Aging:
The 2012 Antinori Solaia was not chaptalized and matured in 100% oak barrels.
The vintage contains 75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Sangiovese, and 5% Cabernet Franc.
