The aromas are truly astonishing, with a potpourri of spices and dried flowers, as well as red currants, sweet plums, and even some peach.
Description:
"The 2017 Pontet-Canet is composed of 64% Cabernet Sauvignon, 31% Merlot, 4% Cabernet Franc and 1% Petit Verdot. It smells wonderfully of rose hip tea, lilac, cinnamon sticks, cloves, dried leaves and undergrowth with a core of cherry, raspberry coulis, warm plums, red and black currants and a hint of pencil shavings. The palate is medium-bodied, refreshing, mineral and wonderfully elegant with a well-balanced texture of pleasant, soft tannins and a long, fragrant finish. Wonderful. The aging took place 50% in new and 15% in second-fill barrels, and the remaining 35% for 16 months in amphorae, with much of the material coming from the soils of Pontet-Canet!"
Taste:
Full-bodied with layers of ripe fruit and ultra-fine tannins that spread across the palate in a comprehensive yet always elegant and pure way.
Serving suggestion:
For a perfect combination, serve this wine with grilled lamb or red meat such as beef.
