Viognier ist eine Weißweinsorte, die für die Herstellung von strukturierten, aromatischen Weinen mit ausgeprägten Steinobstaromen bekannt ist; "Aprikosen und Stahl" sind die klassischen Geschmacksverbände der Sorte. In der Nase können Viognier-Weine auch sehr pflanzlich sein, mit Aromen von Kamille, Lavendel, Thymian und sogar einem Hauch von Kiefer. In alten Beispielen und süßeren Stilen wird dieses potenziell überwältigende Kräuterprofil durch honigsüße Noten aufgeweicht.
