In 1818, Madame Clicquot created the first Rosé d'assemblage by adding some red wine to Yellow Label Champagne. Since then, the Rosé has been further refined to become the Rosé we appreciate so much today. It is the non-vintage wines – that is, not millésimés – that define the reputation of a Champagne house. The House of Veuve Clicquot Ponsardin has therefore committed itself to its founder's motto "quality before quantity" in the creation of its Champagne, in order to guarantee an excellent level of quality.
Taste:
Tiny bubbles permeate the luminous pink Veuve Clicquot Rosé with warm copper tones. On the nose, this Rosé reveals itself to be generous and refined. Initially, the aroma of fresh red fruits predominates, until notes reminiscent of biscuit, yeast pastry, almond, and apricot gradually become noticeable. Powerful and balanced, a fruity harmony ultimately prevails on the palate. (Didier Mariotti)
Production:
By blending the original Yellow Label (44–48% Pinot Noir, 13–18% Meunier, and 25–29% Chardonnay) with red wine from specially selected black grapes (12%), a delicate pink and a balanced Rosé is created. The blend contains 25–40% reserve wines, some of which are up to 20 years old.
Serving suggestion:
Enjoy chilled at 10-12°C. The intense fruit aromas of this Veuve Clicquot Rosé pair well with opulent, smoky dishes. Also perfectly suited as an apéritif or as an accompaniment to fruity desserts.
