- Champagne, France
Distinguished by its aromatic intensity and Veuve Clicquot's characteristic structure, we present the 66th vintage from this pioneering Maison, which created the first known vintage champagne more than 200 years ago. Despite challenging weather conditions, exceptional fruit was harvested in 2012. Thus, this vintage – the unique expression of this particular year – was born. Fresh and delicate on the nose, with a vibrant, balanced taste, it can be enjoyed now or for years to come.
Taste:
Tiny pearls permeate the luminous, pale yellow Veuve Clicquot Vintage in the glass. Initially fresh, fine, and salty. Then, juicy candied apricot and toasted notes unfold a complex bouquet of figs, dried fruit, honey truffles, and mocha alongside gentle vanilla and nutmeg. This structured vintage develops a vibrant yet balanced aroma on the palate. Notes of sweet mirabelle plum cake intermingle with candied citrus fruits and roasted pears, followed by a nutty finish. (Didier Mariotti)
Production:
2012 was a year of extremes. Despite threatening forecasts, good weather conditions ultimately brought the grapes to optimal ripeness. Like all Veuve Clicquot vintages, the 2012 vintage consists of Pinot Noir (51%) with Chardonnay (34%) and Meunier (15%). Through the influence of Pinot Noir and further aging in oak barrels, the 2012 vintage offers the character of a true classic.
Serving suggestion:
Enjoy chilled at 10-12°C. The freshness of this Veuve Clicquot Vintage is excellent as an aperitif, or with seafood such as seared scallops.
