The Dalmunach 2016/2023 was a combination of First Fill Oloroso Sherry and Red Wine Firkins. This cask type is known in the brewing industry, but is rarely encountered in whisky maturation. These small firkins, holding only 60-80 liters, promise intense wood contact. Thus, the Best Dram Small Batches develops complex notes of red fruits and nuts or chocolate.
The Blended Scotch Whiskies were created by Kirsteen Campbell. In 2019, she became the first woman in the almost 200-year history of The Macallan to take on the role of Master Whisky Maker.
