The first gin ever distilled in Monaco – from the principality's only distillery.
The story behind the gin
Long before Monaco became known for racing cars and yachts, citrus growing shaped the local economy. The region's sun-drenched fruit – which helped sailors ward off scurvy – was once traded with merchants on trading ships in exchange for goods, including spirits. These ships moored in the shelter of the famous Port Hercule, the harbour that, according to legend, Hercules himself created. The Gin aux Agrumes draws on this trading history.
Production
A London Dry Gin distilled in Monaco with eleven locally sourced botanicals. The base is a grain spirit, enriched with lemon, orange and grapefruit peel in a traditional copper pot still. The botanicals include juniper berries, bitter orange, sweet orange, lemon, lime, grapefruit, bergamot, citron, Szechuan pepper, ginger and lemon thyme.
Tasting note
Intense citrus notes on the nose, accompanied by a subtle herbal undertone typical of juniper. On the palate, a fine balance between lively citrus freshness and the warmth of the spices, with a clean, lasting finish.
Serving suggestion
Classically as a gin and tonic, neat over ice, or as the base for citrus cocktails such as a Whiskey Sour or a Toddy.
