Most winemakers filter every trace of haze out of their wine. Vectum does the opposite – and gains a depth that filtered wines simply cannot reach.
The wine
Vectum is Weingut Peter Briem's top-class blend: a cuvée from the estate's best selected lots of grapes, bottled unfiltered and produced in strictly limited numbers. The Grauburgunder (Pinot Gris) provides powerful body, while the Chardonnay brings polish, elegance and a fine citrus note with toasty aromas – a combination that rarely succeeds so well.
Vinification
Fermented and matured in new 500-litre tonneaux, stirred by hand every day (bâtonnage), aged on the fine lees and clarified entirely without filtration. A process that demands time, patience and trust in the wine itself – and that is exactly what gives it its profound, multi-layered character.
Tasting note
A wine of rare creaminess: rich and full-bodied, with fine vanilla and toasty aromas that come together on the palate in a long, balanced line. Creamy and elegant, with a finish that lingers.
At the table
Hearty fish dishes, white meat in creamy sauce, aged cheese. This wine has enough structure for ambitious menus.

- Painstaking vinification: Tonneau ageing, daily bâtonnage and a deliberate decision not to filter.
