Koval is Yiddish for "black sheep" - or for someone who achieves something extraordinary. Like the founders of Koval Distillery. In 2008, Robert and Sonat Birnecker abandoned their academic careers. The distillery expert and lecturer on distillation and the history professor exchanged books for stills to continue the distilling tradition in Chicago that Robert had learned from his Austrian grandfather. Today, Koval is the largest independent craft distillery in the USA.

Koval distills innovative whiskeys from sustainably grown, mainly unmalted organic grain (often unconventional varieties) from the region. Following the "grain-to-bottle principle," the distillers control the entire supply chain and perform every distillation step themselves. Afterwards, the whiskeys mature for four years in small single casks. Koval has now bottled three Single Barrels in a "Limited Edition" exclusively for Kirsch Import customers.

Wheat Whiskey: Koval aged this soft, sweet distillate made from at least 51% wheat for Kirsch Import in PX sherry casks. An exceptional combination that entices with its naturally dark color and palatable aromas.
