Oé was founded in 2015 by Thomas Lemasle and François-Xavier Henry with a clear mission: to promote sustainable viticulture and change the way wine is consumed. The company works with certified-organic winemakers all over France and today offers eleven cuvées. Since 2017 Oé has been a certified B Corp, a mark for companies with particularly high social and environmental standards.
The winemaker
This Côtes-du-Rhône is made in partnership with Denis, an Oé winemaker in the little village of Visan. On his estate, truffle oaks, olive trees and lavender grow alongside the vines – a remarkable diversity that actively nourishes local biodiversity. Through the Oé biodiversity programme, 1% of the company's turnover goes into soil-regeneration projects with its partner winemakers.
Vinification
The grapes are 100% destemmed, followed by a two-week fermentation in concrete tanks with daily pumping over. Controlled temperatures preserve maximum fruitiness and soft, supple tannins.
Tasting note
The sweetness of the Grenache combines finely with the spicy notes of the Syrah, underlined by a touch of Carignan. Powerful, lively and pleasantly full – a typical, uncomplicated Côtes-du-Rhône that is easy to drink.
At the table
Aubergine lasagne in summer, spinach and ricotta dishes on cooler days, paella; also a reliable companion to red-meat dishes in sauce and to cheese.
Sustainability
A light, reusable returnable bottle without a capsule, a label made from recycled paper, packaging made from recycled and recyclable cardboard.
