Red wine meets smoke in a new experimental bottling from the Australian Starward distillery. For Unexpeated, the Australians refine their wonderfully fruity Australian whisky, matured exclusively in red wine casks, in casks that previously contained peated Islay Single Malt. For the first time, whisky lovers can experience peated smoke aromas from the Scottish coast combined with the juicy, tropically fruity aromas typical of Starward. As part of the innovative "Project Series", Starward Unexpeated is a limited-edition delight.
Nose: Tropical fruits, toasted oak, and a hint of sweet peat.
Palate: Ripe red berries, coastal peat smoke, yellow peaches, and cocoa nibs.
Finish: Oak notes slowly dry the palate, transitioning into a long, peated finish.
