TEANINICH, not far from Inverness, shares the fate of many of its sister distilleries in the large Diageo family: a shy workhorse with a solid malt, but always inconspicuous and not sexy enough for the A-list of the whisky world. Yet, this Highlander knows how to impress with its fragrant grassiness, which, among other things, is reminiscent of Japanese green tea, pronounced oiliness, and distinctive malt notes, enough to be considered one of the leading malts in blends like Johnnie Walker.
