Not Rye Whiskey. Not Bourbon Whiskey. Not even Corn Whiskey. Westward is American Single Malt. The whiskey from Portland, Oregon, belongs to a category that is on the rise. It is distilled according to the "grain-to-glass principle" from local barley, from the Pacific Northwest. Inspired by the natural beauty, the Single Malt now presents itself in a new design. The label and the custom-made bottle strikingly embody the distillery's strong connection to its wild and romantic home – elegant copper embossings hint at the distillation process. A striking, elegant update that catches the eye.

The Westward Single Malt Whiskey Original is now in the new bottle. The elegant, robust, and fruity flagship of the distillery starts as a highly aromatic Pale Ale, fermented with Ale Yeast. Matured in new, lightly charred US oak barrels, the Single Malt develops in an extreme climate between hot, dry summers and cold, wet winters. It takes at least, but often not more than, three years to achieve its powerful yet balanced maturity, before the contents of usually no more than 10-20 casks are blended into small batches in a process playfully called "mingling".

Tasting Notes:

Elegant, robust, and fruity with creamy notes of vanilla and brown sugar. In addition, baking spices, rich fruit, and sweet malt notes. The finish is characterized by tobacco, dark chocolate, and leathery hints.
